CustomerReviewsA Great Microwave, But......This a great microwave for the money and it does everything that one could ask of a counter top model. It's bigger than I thought it would be, but that's my fault. But there is one catch. The bulb was out inside and it either arrived that way or it quit very shortly afterward (like a couple of days). I didn't notice it at first, but once it was pointed out to me it became quite apparent. I called Sharp (not Amazon) and reported it and they approved warranty service at a local authorized appliance repair shop. 5 1/2 weeks later, I got my microwave back. Now I realize that I should have been more pro active about speeding this process up, but I did have a backup microwave. And I did call a couple of times but to no avail. I travel some, so I also tended to lose track of the amount of time that it was gone. Anyway, there's no excuse for the amount of time it took to repair the unit and I'd suggest to anyone in a similar circumstance that they pay more attention than I did and contact Sharp and/or Amazon if necessary. It's too bad because it's a nice unit and it soured me a little on Sharp (I sent them the story too).
WORKS LIKE A DREAMI purchased this microwave because the one we were using was giving up the ghost. This microwave is excellent. It's speed and efficiency has more than met my expectations. My 17 year old son says it's "Nuclear". The black and white color also looks crisp and clean in my kitchen. It is a great family size microwave. To sum up my review (and I certainly appreciate the time that other people take to give reviews)I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking for a microwave like this particular model. Great machine, LOTS of features!We bought this microwave after our Maytag (yard sale find) blew up. It had endured 5 years of constant use, so I wasn't too surprised.
I realized after looking for a new microwave, that the one we had had, was a top of the line model. But, since we hadn't paid top of the line pricing, and I'm still not willing to pay it now, I started doing some serious comparison shopping.
What I liked about the Sharp was: size, wattage, auto cook options, and quick button one minute start. We have 3 boys under 6 and do lots of entertaining, so these features were essential.
To give a better grasp on it's interior size, you should note that this microwave will fit an 8 x 11 glass baking dish in it, and still rotate ([...] says 9 x 13, but, all of my 9 x 13's were metal so I didn't check, could be though.)
This machine has multiple selections for popcorn (any bag you have, it's got a setting for that). The auto cook options work amazingly, and minute plus, is a must!
The wattage of this microwave is the same as our last one, though it takes just a bit longer to heat foods than our old one. I assume this is because of the crazy big interior size!
This is one deep microwave. But, if you have the space, this appliance is well worth the counter you have to give up. (Oh, and I found it here on Amazon for $110 with free shipping.)
